Lisa Nix – Studio Fern Ceramics

My main sources of inspiration are from natural forms and gothic nostalgia. Growing up in the 90s. I’ve always loved the work of artist HR Giger, and grew up immersed in the dark world of Tim Burton.

Tell us a little about yourself, where you live, and what it is you do.

My name is Lisa Fern Nix, I live in Ojai California and I am currently a working artist/ceramicist. On my downtime I am a mushroom forager and teach mushroom identification courses locally.

How and when did you start working with ceramics?

I started working with ceramics in high school and have been familiar with the techniques however I only became serious about pottery two years ago.

What are some of the things that inspire your work?

My main sources of inspiration are from natural forms and gothic nostalgia growing up in the 90s. I’ve always loved the likes of artist HR Giger and grew up immersed in the dark world of Tim Burton.

What are some of your favorite plants to grow at the moment?

Currently my favorite plants to grow are caudex forming species like pachypodiums and adenia.

What's in the near future for your and your work?

This coming year I will be working with Josh and Deathcaxtus to grow our business together with a new website and in person shows! We hope to find a gallery this next year to showcase our dark pottery as well. We look forward to growing with the community!
